
The Dayton String Trio
Dayton String Trio is an acoustic ensemble. We play for Weddings, Funerals, Celebrations, Birthday Parties, Office parties, etc.The music we play is a mixture of classical, jazz, folk and modern pop music. We do our own arrangements so if you have a special song, we can create an arrangement and play it for you at your special occasion.

Moira Levant has a BA in Music History from Wright State University, an MM in Music Composition from Carnegie Mellon and a MA in Ethno-musicology from the University of Limerick, Ireland. She is a professional classical violinist and Irish fiddler as well as a teacher of music to all ages. She has training in the Montessori philosophy of early childhood education as well as the Suzuki violin method. She uses both in her teaching to young and old alike. As a composer her Rinndeach Aisling Duinn (We had a Vision) setting of Liam Mac Uistin's Irish language poem was first performed in Ireland and then a few years later in Ohio by the Dayton Philharmonic with Sam Kredenweis as vocal soloist. her compositions have placed 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the Ohio Federation of Music Clubs Adult music composition competition between the years 2017-2025. Syrodesy Flute Trio commissioned her to write a piece about the Wright Brothers for them. That piece, Wright Flight, will be performed in August 2025 at the national Flute Conference.

Debbie Johnson received her BM and MM degrees in cello performance from Wright State University and is currently working towards her BM in piano performance at Ohio State University. She has been a pianist for multiple churches and has played cello in the Southwest Ohio Philharmonic, Butler Philharmonic Orchestra and Lima Symphony Orchestra.

Christian R. Berg holds a Master of Arts in Theory and Composition from Montclair State University, NJ and a Bachelor of Music in Double Bass Performance from Manhattan School of Music in New York. He has also had private studies in piano, voice, and guitar.
He has taught guitar, bass, and composition / arranging, in the classical, pop, jazz, and Latin music idiomsat the University level and at middle school and high school workshops and clinics throughout theMidwest. He is currently adjunct professor at the University of Dayton.
He has also served for many years as a faculty member at the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp and the Miami Valley Jazz Camp. He has enjoyed an active career in jazz for four decades as a performer in clubs, concerts, festivals, films,
radio, and television with Susanna McKorkle, Mel Lewis, Jimmy Knepper, Joe Albany, Chuck Wayne,
Bob Wilber, Marty Grosz, John Pizzarelli, and many others. Since 2005 he has been the bassist with the prestigious Columbus Jazz Orchestra and has performed with them in Denmark, Germany, and all over the US as well as in their regular concert series at the Southern Theatre in Columbus, Ohio.
Mr. Berg appears on dozens of commercial recordings and his CDs of original compositions, A Man is a Tree and Sweet Sorrow, both on Hipgnosis Records, have received much critical acclaim. He is very active as a composer/arranger and his songs, jazz compositions, orchestral and chamber pieces and big band arrangements have been performed and recorded by many artists, locally and nationally. He has written music for film & television, musical theatre and video games. With Moira Levant, he co-founded the Dayton-based Composers Organization, COCOA.
As the former Director of Research and Music Development with Brain Actuated Technologies, Inc.,Yellow Springs, OH, he developed and patented software for brain-actuated music. He is the inventor of the Berg Bass-in-a-Box, a collapsible semi-acoustic bass.
